Spring Is in the Air: Growing Across Generations

There’s a subtle shift happening at Newburgh Sanctuary. The light lingers a little longer. The soil begins to soften. The birds return.

Spring reminds us that renewal is not loud, it is steady, patient, and rooted in community. This season invites us to grow, not just food, but relationships, shared knowledge, and collective care.

In our newest Youth Media Park's feature, Canai, a Sanctuary land steward, reflects on what it means to be part of a garden and why intergenerational spaces matter. She speaks to something we witness every day at the Sanctuary: when elders, youth, and families work side by side, something deeper than food is cultivated. Knowledge moves between hands and stories are exchanged. Belonging takes root.
