We’re officially counting down to Quassaick Creekfest at Crystal Lake!
In just a few days, Crystal Lake will come alive with outdoor adventure, music, movement, community science, environmental exploration, and activities for all ages. Last week, we shared some of the art, music, food, and community experiences you can look forward to. Now it’s time to turn up the energy and show you even more of what’s happening throughout the day!
Bring your walking shoes, your curiosity, your family, and your friends. There are so many ways to experience Crystal Lake and the Quassaick Creek watershed at Creekfest.
KAYAK ON CRYSTAL LAKE
There’s no better way to experience Crystal Lake than from the water!
Newburgh Waterways Center will be offering kayaking throughout Creekfest, giving community members a chance to paddle out and experience the lake from an entirely different perspective.
TAKE A COMMUNITY HIKE
Start your Creekfest adventure with Outdoor Promise and a community hike up Snake Hill.
The hike begins at 10 AM, before the main Creekfest activities kick off, so come early, wear comfortable shoes, and start your day on the trail!
DISCOVER WHAT LIVES IN OUR WATERSHED
What’s swimming, growing, crawling, and living around Crystal Lake?
Join the Quassaick Creek Watershed Alliance and Scenic Hudson for an AquaBlitz and BioBlitz, where community members can become scientists for the day.
FOLLOW THE WATER
Throughout Creekfest, Newburgh Environmental Justice Water Tours will take participants along Quassaick Creek to explore the waterways that move through our community. Learn more about our local water system, environmental justice, and the relationship between Crystal Lake, Quassaick Creek, and the neighborhoods around them.
MOVE TO CONGOLESE RHYTHMS
Get ready to dance!
Nkoula Badila and Angel Lau of Kozonga Dance will lead an all-ages Congolese Dance + Drumming Workshop rooted in rhythm, movement, history, joy, and celebration.
DANCE WITH ILLARI COLLECTIVE
Hudson Valley-based Illari Collectivewill bring rhythms and sounds inspired by Peru, Brazil, Congo, and beyond to Crystal Lake.
Their music is made for movement, gathering, and celebration, so bring your dancing shoes and help us close out the day together.
JOIN THE CREEKFEST CREW!
Creekfest is almost here, and we need your help bringing it all to life! Volunteers are an important part of making this free community celebration possible, from welcoming neighbors and supporting activities to helping our artists, environmental partners, and event team throughout the day. Whether you can join us for a few hours or stay for the full celebration, there’s a place for you on the team. Sign up to volunteer, bring a friend, and help us create an incredible day at Crystal Lake!
